TEPEES ALONG COLORADO RIVER

A morning walk to Mt. Bonnel...
the overlook at the Colorado River
at first glance, the placid, lifeless appearance
of morbid mansions
an empty testimony to wealth and privilege
but a deeper seeing reveals
an Indian Village of tepees strung out
along the Colorado River
smoke arising from cooking fires
tempting aromas fills the air
the chatter of women
going about their morning chores
the laughter of children playing
the barking of dogs...

A Deep Silence penetrates
like a mist
sustaining a vision of the Past
still lingering in the Present Moment

The appearance of wealthy mansions
like a shadow obscures
the Rightful Vision of an Indian Encampment
which accords with Nature
with the Law of Heaven

The Past Moment bursting thru
the Present
Transcending the Edge of Unconscious/Conscious
the vital force of Suchness (tathata) dominates
a moment of timelessness
